Ther is about .77 troy ounce of silver in each silver dollar. If you consider
the "real" price of silver to be about $20...then the price is about right,
maybe a bit high.

I'm not sure about collector's value, i.e. the BU ms-60 condition if the coins. I think that "collector value" is very fickle and hard to determine.
I would buy strictly on silver melt value. By current "spot" prices
they are overpriced...but by actual market value of silver coins/
bars/rounds, they are in the ballpark.

I would not buy them for silver content unless the price was much lower. For $17.50 I would rather have SAE. More silver for the same cost or lower.

The Peace dollar has and IMHO will always be the red headed stepchild to the Morgan Dollar.

My guess is that your friend is trying to move to a better quality of Silver with the money from the sale.

^^^^^Agree....if you get stuck with a bunch of MS-60 coins, there isnt much numismatic premium honestly. I would try to talk him down if he has a minimum of 500. I can buy coins like this at the coin shop for $14-$16.
